Week 3 - Presentations

Introduction

For this design idea allows the user to experience an
augmented reality in which the flow of ribbons and particles can be controlled. It works by capturing a colour from an object and then using this object to drag the ribbons around the screen.






Technology

To create this project, I have found the source of the three key elements used in this design. These are the colour detection, the 2D Ribbons and ping range sensor setup. The discussion are list below

Colour detection
This sketch allows the user to select colours from webcam input. The input is then an analysed and a rectangle is drawn around all pixels close to the chosen colour. Up to two colours could be used for this sketch. This is similar to the method in the Bitmapdata class in Flash.











2D Ribbons
For the original design, they chose one of the desinger's Ribbon code and have managed to post it over to processing in 2D form. Although the result and code are both very different to that of original design, it retains the original technque for building the ribbons. Also, more ribbons could be added by changing the ribbon amount variable.

Project Dissemination and How is it useful

Through the virtual ribbons design idea, this project can be using in different functions. For example when designing games this technology can be designed for the interactive games and its could create for not just only use the
controller, using any materials with this technology would be more attractive. If we take one step back, the colour detection technology would be more useful automatic colour detection for car repainting is an example and also skin colour dection is an often used cue in human motion tracking, especially in face tracking.

Reflection

The interactive design are become more ordinary. For example, the technology "colour detection" is using in many design idea. However, if we just make some changes or add another technology into the original design it could make different effect in different situation. Therefore, in the future people could easily realized that successful design product makes life more convenient, interesting and attractive.

At first, we compare two groups desinger and user then makes different links and compare the different.

Week 1 Sustainability

What is Sustainability?

Sustainability is the ability to maintain a certain process or state. It is now most frequently used in connection with biological and human systems. In an ecological context, sustainability can be defined as the ability of an ecosystem to maintain ecological processes, functions, biodiversity and productivity into the future.

Sustainability has become a complex term that can be applied to almost every facet of life on Earth, particularly the many different levels of biological organization, such as; wetlands, prairies and forests and is expressed in human organization concepts, such as; eco-municipalities, sustainable cities, and human activities and disciplines, such as; sustainable agriculture, sustainable architecture and renewable energy.

Sustainability would be the topice we have to discuss and apply in IENV3000. In my opinion, the basic idea of sustainability is that can be use in environment content. I have noticed that saving energy is the most important point in sustainability. From class example, the purpose of energy tree and LED rope are all designing for saving energy like how much you have used and is that overdo or not. Therefore, in the course we have to really understand what is sustainability mean and could be apply in our design porject through semester.
